CEO Masaru Makino served as CEO of two information tech companies in Tokyo for a decade - including Curious Vehicle which provides solutions to renowned Japanese companies including Recruit Holdings and DNP (Dai Nippon Printing). Curious Vehicle’s specialty is managing integrating newly emerging technologies (AI, IoT, real-time data processing among others) into existing business systems with a focus on those solutions being user friendly. In 2016, Makino founded Curious Technology GmbH in Berlin (with Curious Vehicle as parent company) for tangibly developing global, user friendly integration solutions for emerging technologies and to tangibly provide experience for his employees to gain the international experience / insights to develop such solutions. Makino sees the path of development and opportunity in developing solutions from Tokyo to Berlin and beyond.
CTO Takeshi Nakano is an internet technologies expert in Japan and internationally, He authored several influential industry publications including Hadoop Hacks (published by O’Reilly Japan) and Getting Started with Apache Solr. Since 2011, Nakano has been based in Berlin, leading Nikkei-listed Recruit Holdings (specifically Recruit Technologies) internationalization. As Sr Research Engineer, Nakano previously managed Recruit Technologies’ Advanced Technology Lab (ATL), overseeing advanced research and development initiatives geared towards creating, adopting, and utilizing OSS applications as well as shepherding new Big-Data innovations into use at Recruit. Nakano has been dreaming of bringing his own tech ideas to fruition and cofounded Curious Technology GmbH after learning the startup life inside - out, outside - in, bottom - up, top - down.
CMO Leah Stuhltrager opened her first space promoting creative tech in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 1998. In 2012, she expanded to Berlin and founded "THE WYE”. Internationally, Stuhltrager has led innovation projects for clients like Lexus, The American Embassy, and GFS India while curating for creative tech leaders such as CYFEST, SOFA, and Convergence. Career highlights include projects at Lincoln Center, Coachella, Contemporary Istanbul, The Hermitage Museum, Oriental Pearl Tower, Roppongi Hills, London's Great Eastern Wall, Cà Foscari Zattere (Venice Biennale), and other initiatives building industry bridges between America, Europe & Asia - such as Germany's Asia Pacific Week. She’s a TEDxBerlin Board Member, mentor at accelerators, innovation / urban planning advisor, and VC whisperer. Stuhltrager believes the impact of technology exceeds any era and individual hands creating it.
